Set among the gardens just outside Charlotte, North Carolina, this portrait session at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden was a beautiful celebration of culture, connection, and personal style.

The couple chose to incorporate traditional Cambodian wedding attire, bringing rich gold tones, intricate embroidery, and beautiful jewelry into the garden setting. Against the soft greenery and architecture of Daniel Stowe, every detail stood out.

Honoring Cambodian Tradition Through the Details

Some of my favorite photographs from this gallery are the quietest ones: the close-up of her gold jewelry, the texture of the embroidered fabric, and the small moments between the couple.

Their traditional Cambodian wardrobe was such an important part of telling their story. Rather than simply photographing the clothing, I wanted to give space to the craftsmanship, styling, and cultural details that made it meaningful.

The warm gold tones looked especially beautiful against the natural greens of the garden, creating portraits that feel both traditional and editorial.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, located just outside of Charlotte in Belmont, NC, offers so many beautiful locations for wedding and couples photography. From vine-covered columns and brick pathways to open gardens and architectural details, there is plenty of variety within one location.

For this session, we moved between more structured portraits and quieter, candid moments. I also incorporated black-and-white photographs throughout the gallery to give some of the images a more timeless, documentary feeling.
